I met Fraser Field ("Mr. Field") when my daughter was nine.  She was a student in his class at St. Patrick's in Maple Ridge, B.C.  I'm not sure what it was about him, but he made a significant impact on my wife and two daughters.  My second daughter had him as her teacher the following year after we met.

My wife was very interested in everything related to education.  When Mr. Field left St. Patrick's to start CERC, she remembered him and every once in a while would send along some money.  Debbie didn't chose her charitable favourites lightly.  They had to be truly helpful and solid in the Faith.

As years went by, we moved away from Maple Ridge and the girls grew up, eventually going to university and graduating with honours.  Through all this time, we knew of Mr. Field's apostolate and continued to do what we could to help.  I'm sure my wife used the information supplied by CERC to further her own formation.

Eight years ago, my wife went to heaven after a losing her battle with kidney cancer.  Around that time, my first daughter was working as an online teacher for a Christian organization out of Alberta.  She was also working for Catholic Insight in Toronto where she cut her teeth on the need for excellence in writing and on articles that explained the Faith in a readable way.

A few months after my wife passed, we learned that CERC was looking for someone to assist Mr. Field in the apostolate.  My daughter and I discussed her applying for the position and, after a bit, she contacted Mr. Field.  He was very gracious and even though it was very late in the recruitment process, he allowed her to apply.

Today you know her as Meaghen Gonzalez, Managing Editor of CERC, but I still remember her as my little girl.

Our world needs organizations like CERC to keep the light of Christ burning brightly, leading people to Truth.  For the last few years, we have been monthly donors through automatic donation.  Please do what you can to keep this dream alive.
