Note from the Assistant Managing Editor:

"Today, as yesterday, Christian life demands the courage to go against the tide, to love like Jesus, who even went so far as to sacrifice himself on the cross."  So begins our newsletter this week, with a reflection from Pope Benedict XVI.

I'm still in the midst of preparing for Advent — I have the candles, but have yet to make my Advent wreath.  But I have decided to give up "background noise" (television, radio, podcasts) and treats — it is a penitential season after all.

For many of us, it already feels penitential even without a deliberate sacrifice: we've been isolated from our friends and family, we're being prevented from working, we've suffered the loss of the sacraments.

It is especially important during these times that the voices that strongly speak the truth continue to be heard.  CERC is one of those voices.

Unlike other curated news sites that subjectively select articles to individual interest, CERC finds what is objectively the best and puts it all in one place.  And the pieces we reprint won't just keep you up to date on current events; we introduce you to the great writers, thinkers, and artists of our time and offer resources for questions on faith, history, morality, philosophy... the list goes on.

Because of your generosity, we have been able to offer our site for free.  Please help us continue to make that possible this Advent with a tax-deductible donation of $5, $50, $500, or $5000.  Our goal is to receive half of our yearly operating budget of $100,000.  You can make this possible!  Donate here today.
