Note from the Managing Editor:

While Donald Trump is certainly no gentleman — and my misgivings about him are titanic — there is a reasonable hope that, at least for religious believers, good will come of his presidency.

Under Obama there has been a precipitous erosion of first amendment rights in the United States.  Trump has promised to walk back many of those injustices early on in his presidency.  See Ryan T. Anderson's "Make Religious Freedom Great Again."

Another issue with potentially wide implications is the massive failure of the mainstream media to fulfill its historic role as the fourth estate.  See Denyse O'Leary's "Why the mainstream media was doomed to call the US election wrong."

What disturbs Sam Guzman most of all about this election and its aftermath is the hate and scorn displayed by many Catholics in his social circles against their political (and religious) enemies.  See "Love Your (Political) Enemies."

There is a rare note of balance and perspective on the whole matter of the election in Fran Maier's recent First Things article "Making sense of it"

As for other topics, I think you'll appreciate reading "Oh, That You Would Rend the Heavens and Come Down!" and "Sin is Soooo Boring!" - J. Fraser Field
