Note from the Managing Editor:

Lucie Christine had some rules she lived by that helped her sanctify herself.  See "Living the New Commandment".

The Swiss Guard have served as the elite protectors of the Pope for over 500 years.  Along with defending the pope, it appears they've learned a few things about papal cuisine.  In a gorgeous new book from Sophia Press, Pontifical Swiss Guard presents The Vatican Cookbook, the favourite recipes of Pope Francis, Pope Benedict XVI, and Saint John Paul II can be found along with everyday staples and holiday feasts coming out of the Vatican kitchens.  It's full of stories gathered by the Guard over the years and beautifully illustrated. See "The Vatican's Army: They're Soldiers and Chefs".

Catholics have so much to be proud of and yet most of what we should be proud of we are oblivious to.  "Rediscovering the Ideal Healthcare Plan" is something every Catholic should read and then puff out his chest (but only just a little bit) knowing what his church has done for the world.

I suspect most of you heard, and were deeply moved in hearing, the homily Father Paul Scalia gave at the funeral mass of his father Justice Antonin Scalia.  In "Why has the courtroom retained the reverence the Mass has lost?" Father Scalia reflects on the many ways a courtroom resembles a church and regrets the fact that in many places more reverence is observed in the courtroom than in the church. - J. Fraser Field
