Note from the Managing Editor
For this All Soul's Day we have two beautiful articles for you. Jared Staudt introduces us to the medieval manual Ars Moriendi or the Art of Dying published by The National Catholic Bioethics Center. Says the publisher:

"The medicalization of dying, with its disregard for the vital importance of sacramental life for those who face imminent death, prompts the return of Ars Moriendi, or The Art of Dying. This manual serves as a valuable resource for Catholics today, encouraging their full participation in the rich sacramental and liturgical tradition of the Church and challenging them to keep their eyes fixed on Christ and the promise of eternal life with him."

Then Sean Fitzpatrick describes a funeral he attended recently which realized those very ideals. See "A Beautiful Funeral."

And so let us pray for one another and especially for the faithful departed this month. - J. Fraser Field

"I thank God that I live in a day when the enemy is outside the Church, and I know where he is and what he is up too. But I fore see a day when the enemy will be both outside and inside the Church.. . and, I pray for the poor faithful who will be caught in the crossfire." -Saint John Henry Newman"
