Note from the Managing Editor:

For a few years before CERC got going, I taught grade seven and then grade four at St. Patrick's Elementary School in Maple Ridge, B.C. just outside of Vancouver.

On Fridays I would take my class to a small chapel adjacent to the school where the Blessed Sacrament was reserved.  We would say our usual morning prayers on our knees and then spend a few minutes in mental prayer.

Many of the kids came to love their prayer time in that chapel and not just because it was time away from the classroom.  Without any prompting from me, different students would tell me how much happier and how much more peaceful they felt after their quiet time in the presence of the Lord.

That's precisely what Eucharistic Adoration gives us of course and many of the children were still innocent enough to receive that grace and recognize they were receiving it.  I hope that a good number of those students have by now established a life-long habit of filling themselves with the Real Presence on a regular basis.

With that background you will understand why, after I read "What these 11-year-old children write about Eucharistic Adoration will melt your heart," I wanted to feature that article in the update this week.

If you still haven't read enough thoughtful commentary on the insanity of what's going on south of the 49th parallel you might want to have a look at Father Rutler's "The triumph of the will over the intellect."

To read about the new depths of anti-Catholic bigotry to which the Democratic party has now sunk, see Father Rutler's "Two Newmans and Two Catholic Springs." - J. Fraser Field
