Note from the Managing Editor:
In case you're the only one on the planet who hasn't heard, Mother Teresa was canonized by Pope Francis at the Vatican on September 4.
In our first article, "Saint of Mercy — Teresa of Calcutta", Father Peter John Cameron, O.P. summarizes some of the central religious understandings that made Mother Teresa the remarkable person and the great saint that she is.
Mother had many friends, friends who were often transformed by their encounters with her. See "Mother changed my life: Friends remember Mother Teresa" and "On the Canonization of Saint Teresa of Calcutta" by Father George W. Rutler.
Next there's "The science behind pornography", by Kevin Majeres of Harvard Medical School, which not only explains the brain basis of what for many is a life-destroying addiction, but offers real hope in breaking the momentum and overcoming the compulsion.
And finally, "The Fading of Three Christian Virtues" is an article that has garnered a lot of attention from casual readers of our web site. You may also find it worth a look. - J. Fraser Field |

On the Canonization of Saint Teresa of Calcutta -
Father George W. Rutler - Crisis Magazine
In a brief count of saints, there are at least 148 who were mothers, and Marie-Azelie Guerin Martin's daughter was a saint, too — like Marie Zhao Guoshi in China whose daughters Marie and Rosa were martyred with her.
