Note from the Assistant Managing Editor:

"Faith in God is a form of obedience, a word that barely resonates with positive connotation today.  From the Latin ob-audire, which means to 'hear' or 'listen to,' the obedience of faith is the free submission of intellect and will to God's word, which is worthy of trust because it is guaranteed by God himself."

We live in a world where, as Jem Sullivan says in this week's reflection, authority and obedience are no longer seen as goods.

At the same time, we have been blessed with the rich intellectual tradition of the Church that teaches us the truth of these matters.  CERC was established to help Catholics rediscover this rich intellectual tradition to which we are heir, and we rely on your generosity to continue.

"The terrible danger in the heart of our Society is that the tests are giving way.  We are altering, not the evils, but the standards of good by which alone evils can be detected and defined." - G. K. Chesterton
