Increase Our Faith

  • FATHER TADEUSZ DAJCZER

Faith is the acknowledgement of one's own helplessness — the belief that one owns nothing, that everything is a gift.  It is the awaiting of all gifts from God....

philipapostoleIt is difficult to believe, but it is even harder not to believe.  Try to realize as often as possible that you are not alone.  Christ, who has redeemed you, is with you.  With a childlike feeling of your own helplessness, try to oppose those fears that depress you.

Say to Jesus, "I know that you want to cleanse me from this leprosy; I know that you have already redeemed me from it."  Do you know that you could be the witness to a miracle?  Christ said, If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to [this] mulberry tree, Be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it would obey you (Lk 17:6).

Then you would see that the unlimited power of God is in faith, which in the eyes of the world is such a small "nothing" — just like a mustard seed, the smallest of seeds.  You would see that faith opens you to the redeeming works of Christ and, in a miraculous way, removes fear.  Then, suddenly, you would feel that you are a free person.

The Author

daj daj1 Fr. Tadeusz Dajczer (†2009) was ordained to the Priesthood in 1955 in Warsaw, Poland. In the life of Fr. Dajczer, a decisive moment took place during his confession with St. Padre Pio. St. Padre Pio asked his penitent, with astonishment and great force, why he did not want to go toward God to the end. For Fr. Dajczer it was a shocking experience and at the same time, the beginning of a search for sanctity both for himself and for his penitents. He is the author of The Mystery of Faith: Meditations on the Eucharist, and The Gift of Faith, which has been translated into 26 languages. He is the co-founder of the Families of Nazareth Movement, which is currently present in 40 countries.
