The Physicians Consortium, representing more than 25,000 doctors, has called for the resignation of Dr. Jeffrey Koplan, the director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC). They charge that the CDC has known that a U. S. Health and Human Services (HHS) study found no convincing proof that condoms provide protection against many sexually transmitted diseases.

For thirty years a ragtag trio has been running across the cultural landscape, linked like escapees from a chain gang and causing similar havoc: sexual liberation, economic independence, and reproductive choice. Even as the bad news is that these notions rose and flourished together, the good news is that hints of their common fall are becoming discernible.

Don't Wear That Mini to Mass

As I have not received nearly enough hate mail of late, I thought it best to write something on modesty, this time modesty at Mass. I realize, of course, how delicate this subject is, but I also know that I am not the only one disturbed by immodesty. I am certain that more than a few priests grind their teeth every week in anticipation of having to minister to the inadequately dressed.
